A Historic Theatre. A Future Worth Restoring.
Schine's Auburn Theatre, a historic 1938 Streamline Moderne movie house, represents an extraordinary opportunity to preserve an important piece of Auburn's architectural and cultural heritage while envisioning a new future as a vibrant performing arts center.
But before that vision can become reality, we must do the necessary groundwork.
Schine On! is currently in its due diligence phase, a critical period of investigation, evaluation, and planning that will help determine the most responsible and achievable path forward.
The Next 6 months are critical...
Over the next six months, Schine On! intends to undertake essential professional assessments, including:
-
Structural Engineering Studies — Evaluating the building's structural condition and identifying potential stabilization and restoration requirements.
-
Feasibility Study — Examining the practical, operational, and financial considerations involved in restoring and adapting the theatre for future use as a performing arts center.
-
Comprehensive Building Inspections — Assessing major building systems, existing conditions, and potential challenges that must be addressed.
These studies and inspections will provide the information needed to make informed decisions, establish realistic priorities, and determine the next steps in the restoration process.
This is not yet the restoration itself. It is the essential work that will help determine how restoration can responsibly move forward.
